THEY GOT GAME, BUT COPS AIN'T PLAYING
Police in Phnom Penh say they have arrested a group of “game-players” caught gambling Sunday in the capital’s Choam Chav commune. Originally, 19 alleged gamblers were arrested and sent to the police station. However, more than half were released after police realised some were just food vendors and servants. Police say they are preparing to send nine of the arrested group to municipal court for punishment.

Allegations of blackmail are swirling after police in Kampong Cham rescued a 4-year-old girl from a brothel on Friday. When the mother couldn’t pay back the full amount, the woman and her husband allegedly seized the daughter, threatening to keep the girl unless the mother paid her debt in full.

Police in Kampong Cham province have arrested seven “gangsters” accused of causing a ruckus and kissing one another repeatedly along a public road. Police said the gangsters – men and women – came to Veal Vong district to catch a concert but camped out on the side of the road when it got dark. Police said they “educated” the gangsters and warned their parents to keep a tight leash on their promiscuous progeny.

A 21-year-old man stands accused of chopping his uncle to death with a meat cleaver after the uncle cursed the suspect’s grandmother – the victim’s mother. It happened Monday in Kampong Cham’s Prey Chhor district. Police say the suspect chopped his uncle – who, police observed, enjoyed imbibing in alcohol daily – five times with the cleaver before fleeing. The suspect is still on the loose.RASMEY KAMPUCHEA
